Last week, my cousin Adam (aka Adam Parker Smith) opened his first show in New York. I asked Johanna to go, and tried to add it to The Purple List (DENIED: Not cool enough/Nepotism not allowed), because I wanted to be sure all the cool folks I know in NYC went. Ya know, ’cause I love my cousin and believe in his art.
As I was doing a little in-family Googling today, I found that Johanna had not only posted a great set of images on Flickr, but also wrote a nice post about it. And I found it on cribcandy. And on notcot.org, pristina.org, like-love, fazylucker, wists, JAWGITS, bloggin’ since78, BEAUTIFUL DECAY (scroll down), and FAC. As always, you can see his stuff on my family’s photoblog, across the street at exitcreative.net/todayin.
As you can tell, I’m pretty stoked that he’s gotten all this “press”. He deserves it.
Below are pictures from the exhibit.

This one is based on the Nina Berman photo… pretty crazy.

This is Bush & Cheney, I think.

This is some guy from Pirates of the Caribbean. When Adam had it on display somewhere in the sticks of Illinois, kids recognized it immediately.

And this, of course, is Mike Tyson. Jaw ripped off.
What follows are some more of his pieces that I find to be the dopest of the dope.

First there’s this video of Adam’s paper plane crashing in Brooklyn.

The plane in question.

The aftermath (staff).

Some paper penguins and the drawings that I wish he would do more of.

These dolls were on display in Laredo. And once in the Vatican. The Swiss Guards were not happy about that. But that’s his story to tell.

And this is my favorite piece ever. Super hot. I wish he would send it to me. It’s like a greeting card, but it says, “I hope you drown”. That’s Doug on the left. Doug is good at charades.
That’s all. I hope you all get a chance to check out his work at some point.
