Blogger’s Union

I never realized how quickly–and early–stuff gets around in blogs. I’m really only exposed to the marketing/advertising end of the blog-o-sphere, but it’s becoming pointless to read print publications in this arena: I simply hear the news and get the opinions far earlier (and more comprehensively) through my regular blog reads.

Mack Collier of The Viral Garden has called us to action. He wrote this morning of the power of bloggers, the speed at which information travels between them, and their relevance to larger marketing efforts.

So let’s follow Mack’s lead and prove it:

“So that’s my call to the Viral Community today. If you have a case of writer’s block this week, and you need a post for your blog, just mention how Universal was smart enough to talk to bloggers. If all of the members of just the Viral Community posted about Universal’s move to interact with Chris, the studio’s actions could be literally brought to tens of thousands of people by day’s end. The A-Listers had their fun and sent their message to companies last week, this week it’s our turn to let companies know that bloggers DO want to talk to them, and that we WILL reward their efforts.” – Mack Collier, 10:14 AM

Read his full post to get the scoop. The Reader’s Digest version? Universal Studios made a big step forward by engaging one of the big dogs in the marketing blog area (Movie Marketing Madness) to promote Miami Vice.

Write about it on your blog if you have a chance. Spread the love, show the power. Feels like an NPR pledge drive, but I think it stands a chance of being a major moment.

  1. Excellent “Reader’s Digest” version! Love it.

And by the way — great blog! First time here…but it looks like a fun place to visit.

Thanks! I have to say… I’m very flattered. That MarketingProf’s “Queen of all Things Content” thinks my blog is OK is a pretty nice thing to hear.

    Again, thanks!

  3. I’m with Ann. Just found you but looks like you have a great site/blog here. Thanks for jumping on Mack’s bandwagon!

  4. Chris -

Glad you like my blog. And I hope more people jump on with Mack. It’s about time that we respond to positive action by marketers. Especially since we all love marketing so much, right?
